- Take the Sabrina down the River – Sabrina is our local tour boat which takes you on a trip down the meandering River Severn giving you a truly unique perspective of Shrewsbury. Here you can learn a lot about the history of our medieval market town. The Sabrina also offers themed cruises as well as some including Sunday lunch or afternoon tea. We definitely recommend a sunset cruise in late summer.
- Picnic in the Quarry – The Quarry is Shrewsbury’s 29-acre parkland and is the best picnic spot in Shrewsbury! We recommend having a walk around the Quarry then sitting by the river or enjoying the colourful flowers in the dingle with spot of lunch. There is also an ice cream cafe you can enjoy on those really hot days.
- Shrewsbury Flower Show – Our Flower Show is one of the best in the country. The Quarry is brought to life with a sea of bright blooms for everyone to enjoy. There is competitions, live music, food and craft stalls and celebrity guests for you to enjoy. The flower show is held yearly in august over weekend and definitely is one you wont want to miss!
- Visit some of our Beer Gardens – Shrewsbury has some of the best beer gardens. We recommend enjoying some of our charming pubs and restaurants and sample some of our local beers and spirits while basking in the Sun. We recommend The Boat House and the Armory which both give you a view. The Wheatsheaf and the House of Grain broth have a view of Shrewsbury’s bustling high street.
- Enjoy a range of live music throughout our town – In Shrewsbury we have a wealth of live music available. The Loopy Shrew, The Salopian and Alberts Shed are all notable venues for see some live music however there is many more.
- Shrewsbury Castle – The Castle is a must see in the Summer, it has picturesque gardens which are open to walk around and take a picnic. There is a terrific view of Shrewsbury and of course there is a lot of history you can get stuck into!
- Shopping – we are fortunate to have a thriving local economy, with 70% of our shops are locally owned, contributing to the town’s unique character and charm. We recommend exploring the town centre to discover all the hidden gems, there isn’t just the high street! There are many little alleys and secret areas that can lead you to hidden treasures. One of these hidden treasure is Shrewsbury’s Market Hall, you wont regret the visit!
- Riverside walk – Shrewsbury has a popular riverside walk which is perfect for a sunny day. The walk starts at Shrewsbury Train Station and takes you past the Castle, the Abbey, through the Quarry and then past the Quantum leap. This walk lets you see many of Shrewsbury’s attractions and explore the river. There will also be a lot of opportunity to stop and explore each of these areas as well as grab some lunch or a drink if you wanted.
- Explore the areas around Shrewsbury – Shrewsbury is positioned right next to an area of outstanding natural beauty so if you can its definitely worth visiting. Some notable areas are Haughmond Hill, Attingham Park, Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd. Each of these have amazing walks and are a great way to see rural Shropshire.
- Attending Shrewsbury Events – Along with Shrewsbury Flower Show we also host a range of different events. Shrewsbury Folk Festival runs at the end of August, Shrewsbury’s Art Trails runs throughout July and August, Shrewsbury Food Festival is held in late June and Shrewsbury’s International Comedy Festival which is help in mid July.
