The Quarry
The Quarry is a must-visit destination if you are staying in Shrewsbury. It is conveniently located just a short five-minute walk away from our properties. The Quarry encompasses 29 acres of stunning parkland that was once meticulously maintained by the renowned Percy Thrower. At its core lies the Dingle, a haven that features a magnificent flower garden adorned with captivating water features. It is here that you will find the statue of the nymph Sabrina, the namesake of Shrewsbury’s tour boat, who is said to have met her untimely demise in the River Severn.
The Quarry serves as a cherished recreational space for the town, hosting a diverse array of events throughout the year. One of the highlights is Shrewsbury’s Flower Show, organized by the esteemed Shropshire Horticultural Society. This event stands as one of the most prominent of its kind in the United Kingdom. Additionally, The Quarry has been graced by the presence of numerous music concerts in the past. We are proud to have hosted renowned artists such as JLS, Jessie J, and the Sugababes at our annual Let’s Rock event. It is definitely worth checking your calendar to see if the quarry is hosting anything before your stay.
We wholeheartedly recommend a visit to The Quarry, where you can enjoy a delightful picnic while exploring its many wonders. Among its attractions are several notable statues and sculptures that add to its charm and historical significance.
The Quarry is grade II listed on the register of parks and gardens.
