Shrewsbury Flower Show

The Shrewsbury Flower Show is one of the longest-running and most celebrated horticultural events in the United Kingdom. It is hosted by Shropshire Horticultural society and was first held in 1875. The flower show is held annually in the picturesque Quarry, the show attracts thousands of visitors from across the country and beyond. It is definitely considered and must-see event if you’re visiting Shropshire this summer.

During the event there are many floral exhibits to see from flower enthusiasts all over, TV personalities, celebrity chefs as well as live music and arena acts. There are many fierce competitions throughout the event from gardeners at all levels who have come to showcase their success. Some of the competition categories include cut flowers, pot plants, vegetables and floral arrangements. The competitions are judged by industry experts and the award is considered to be very prestigious. The show also wants to encourage amateur gardeners as well as young children, so the show always tries to showcase upcoming talents.

Shrewsbury flower show also hosts a range of food stalls with culinary delights from across the road as well as live cooking demonstrations. There are also numerous craft stalls so there are endless shopping opportunities throughout the day and constant entertainment opportunities. Children are always encouraged to participate so there is children’s entertainment offered throughout the two days including educational displays, for all ages, which focus on horticulture, wildlife and environmental conservation. The show usually ruins for two days at the start of August and ends with a fire work display.
