Shrewsbury Abbey
There has been a place of worship on this site since the Anglo-Saxon times however the Abbey was founded in 1083, it was one of the most influential abbeys in England. Regrettably, a significant portion of the Abbey was destroyed in the 16th century. Nevertheless, it retains its status as a Grade I listed building and is a member of the greater church groups. The Shrewsbury Abbey along with St Peter’s in Monkmoor form the Parish of the Holy Cross
The Abbey is open for visitors 10:30 to 15.30 daily and is free to enter, however a donation is always welcomed. The Abbey has volunteers on hand every day from 11:00 to 15:00 to answer any question you may have and will even give you a tour of the premise. Group tours are also available and need to be booked through the Parish office.
